Overview

TRACKSOFT South Africa now offers local and International students the opportunity to study the PIC Micro-controller at their own convenience.

This power course is packed with basics and applications to a complex level.

The intended audience is aimed at one of an Electronics and Logics background.

You will have 6-Months in which to complete all your homework tasks, and to submit them.
Extensions will only be granted on the basis that the student has completed at least 4 homework tasks.

Correspondence Course Items may be purchased seperately. The items are:
  • PICSTART Plus Programmer

  • Lesson 1 to Lesson 8 Course Manual

  • Lesson 1 to Lesson 8 Component Set



Homework submission

Students may submit homework tasks via one of the following media:

  • e-mail mail addresses included in the course notes
  • by fax

  • postal services - takes the longest!

  • Material Obtainable Separately

    The student may order any of the following material shipped via courier services worldwide:

  • PICSTART-PLUS Programmer complete with Application software CD-ROM and Component Data Sheets.

  • Complete set of course notes

  • A COMPLETE kit of components needed for ALL the practicals as mentioned under course contents.

    The student will not have to purchase any additional components when ordering the component kit, for the practical exercises. This means that the student will be fully equipped to Program and build all the practical applications as specified in the course contents.

  • Reading from a keypad
  • Reading and writing to the on-board EEPROM
  • -Favourite- Driving LCD (Liquid crystal displays)in 4-bit and 8-bit mode
  • -Favourite- Writing your own usable characters to the Liquid Crystal Display
  • Mathematical routines including BCD converters, Multiplication routines, and Division routines.
  • The USART and Serial RS-232 communications (Establish communications to and from your PC via the RS-232 serial port)
